Auburn to host exhibition against violence towards women

Photo exhibition "The Stain".

鈥淭he Stain鈥 is the name of a photo exhibition by Turkish artist A. Suderin Murat, which looks at the issue of violence against women.

Coinciding with International Women鈥檚 Day, the exhibition will be open to the public from March 4-10 at the Auburn Town Hall Exhibition Gallery.

For many years, Murat has campaigned against all kinds of discrimination. She considers art to be 鈥渢he most effective and peaceful tool鈥 for helping society.

She was part of the 鈥淪top Domestic Violence鈥 project (2005-2008), which was kicked off by 11 women photographers and organised in conjunction with the United Nations Population Fund.

The project involved over 450 women photographers. Murat received an award for her work on this project in 2007.
