The Student General Meeting on August 21 was the biggest pro-Palestine action ever seen at Western Sydney University (WSU). We sent WSU’s management and Albanese our message loud and clear: to halt the genocide and free Palestine, we need genuine sanctions. We need all of our campuses to be apartheid-free zones. We need WSU to end research with IDF supplier Syqe now!Â
This meeting voted in support of the following motion:
-
Demanding that the Albanese government places political, economic and military sanctions on Israel.
-
WSU to cut ties with Syqe Medical, which produces therapeutics for the Israeli army.
-
WSU to lift the suspensions placed on students who protested for Palestine on campus last year.
-
Opposing the planned cuts of 300 staff at the university.
The next step is to turn this vote into action.Â
