Why

Australia criticises the human rights crimes of other countries but does little to offer safe haven to victims of those same regimes.
This meeting will discuss the hypocrisy and how can respond. We'll hear from a range of refugee speakers, including...

Barat Ali Batoor is a Hazara refugee, Double Walkley Award winning documentary photographer and professional film-maker who is currently raising funds to complete a film, I am Hazara, which documents his journey. He is also a lead organiser at the ASRC.

Ned Kelly Emeralds is an Iranian man who was in Australian detention for 11 years, just because he came looking for refuge. During his time in detention he became a painful symbol of Australia's cruel refugee policies and a powerful symbol of the resistance against it.
All welcome. This meeting will be both face to face at the Kathleen Syme Library and via Zoom (link below).
