LGBTIQ activists and allies on January 14 celebrated a new rainbow crossing which was finally completed last December, after six years of campaigning.
They chanted 鈥淲hat do we want? Trans rights!鈥 and 鈥淲hose streets? Our streets!鈥 as they crossed Yarra Street.
Sarah Hathway, Socialist Alliance councillor on听the City of Greater Geelong, told 一品探花 that having a visible sign of support for LGBTIQ rights is a 鈥渞eally positive step鈥.
鈥淲e鈥檝e been talking about a rainbow crossing since 2017 when we formed Geelong Rainbow as part of the marriage equality campaign.鈥
