Hundreds of university and high school students mobilised for the National Student Strike 4 Palestine on August 7 in Naarm/Melbourne to demand universities cut all ties with Israeli weapons companies and for the government to sanction Israel.

Featured speakers included Nasser Mashni, Australia Palestine Advocacy Network president, and Robert Martin, a Palestine solidarity activist who was part of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla on the Handala, which attempted to break Israel’s genocidal blockade. Both highlighted the surge in support for Palestine across the world.

Students marched from the State Library to the Flinders Street intersection, where Victoria Police unleashed their bullying tactics, arresting five students who were sitting on the road with their arms linked.
