Thousands gathered at Camp Sovereignty, over September 5鈥6, to show solidarity with First Nations people against the fascists and racists鈥 brutal attacks on the camp in the aftermath of the racist rally in the city on August 31.
The camp will be well guarded from now against any future racist attack. The mood among the crowd was resolute and respectful as they took part in a healing smoking ceremony. This land was stolen. It was never given up.
As Krautungalung Elder Uncle Robbie Thorpe told the crowd: 鈥淚n a strange way they [the racists] have done us a favour.鈥
[A national day of action is being held against racism and fascism on September 13.]
